R.I.P

some random stuff i stumbled upon while doing my boring tutorial

my fav spot of all

ah yeah. some steady state lateral acceleration testing for my references ^_^

this is old stuff im not gonna use this. it was basically to see if there is any actual difference in beamng with parallel ackermann. i cant do true negative for some reason, it is already at -100% i believe? its weird. in beamng values are sometimes inversed which i dont like

dont remember what this is? oh, right. its how camber works dynamically. outside wheels gain positive camber. pretty boring

an car

ackermann testing. you can see it is converging just behind the rear axes

this is literally beamng slop, like. wtf is even happening

another old pic taht i wont use (i have made better). its the difference in negative and positive castor (in the game it is at maximum negative -100% and yet the lowest it can go is 5 degrees, so i cant do anything about that, at least with this suspension geometry of this particular car called vivace something). it changes the camber angle at full steering lock, only really useful at slow speeds i believe?

sai_wtf

dont remember posting this. there is no negative SAI in beamng, did anyone know that? this is the modern bruckell i believe. it has a long arms double wishbone suspension so its kingpin axis is naturally very sharp

there were more pics i had but they’ve apparently disappeared. i also cant post larger images and gifs i had. sorry

two more. uh its the alternative i have in my tutorial. this is as viewed from behind and below the front left wheel. idk about you guys but i found this so confusing at first. i made some mistakes, to be honest. lets just say i thought that the direction of travel derived from where the wheel is pointing to is the direction it the wheel is actually going to travel to. well, i am turning to the right here, but the slip angle at the front half of the contact patch is deflected to the left. it still is confusing to me, i dont know about you guys. anyone else feel like this or is it just stupid silly me?

yeah i tried my best in vanilla. nobody appreciated it on the servers, so im sharing it here. completely custom everything. it sucks that i dont have much control over the livery (especially the wheel colour, this one is called “gold”, and the other “colourable” wheels use the third colour slot which messes up the entire livery…), and im too lazy to learn the new garage features… statistically, the suspension tuning takes the most time, and it did… this is the first time i drive it on dry gravel, because this was up to spec for rallying in snow

in retrospect i should probably add the black trim huh. or even recreate this picture above :3 but im so lazy. edit: oh. nevermind. i checked, you cant have the black trim, you can only have it painted over with this livery, so its not an actual individual body part (bumpers, doors), it is just a “paint design” in-game. bruh.

btw did you guys notice the numbers match? what a coincidence

silly poc in sp

at least 2,5m high, around 1 ton, with this 2500nm VANILLA monster i can control any DoF mid air and do 360’s… and land perfectly without any damage as high as 20 metres, because it has the stiffest suspension the world has ever seen

now, heres the problem. so the front double wishbone suspension wouldnt work, it has significantly lower coilovers so i cant preload it as high as the rear, so i had to opt for a 4p live axle, which is still not high enough, it kept snapping on me, especially when the offroad/crawling tyres have selfCollision enabled with the rest of the frame, specially with bunch of important struts protruding to the axle, annoyingly. speaking of annoying, the one point at the front sits diagonally for some reason, which can be mitigated with strap limiters, but has an undesired effect of… limiting the one degree of freedom that is needed to make the jump alive lol. then the tyres kept popping on landing. anything lower than 10psi is deadge. so? as the rear is higher, it is preferred to land with the back of it first

this is what i mean. on acceleration it tends to steer to one side. on compression, it tends to be heavier towards the FR wheel. very annoying

there is nothing i can do about this. its very suboptimal. especially when you cant configure coilovers/shocks independently

youve all heard of the differential steering, now get ready for the differential pitching lol. if i steer my tyres i can twist myself and almost do SKATEBOARD tricks as if it was a different game! OH btw speaking of. the anti roll bars actually WORK mid air??? it literally stabilises my horizontal roll. anyway this game is extremely broken, yep.

dont really like these cars to be honest. i was hesitant to work with the suspension on this. if you look closely there are 2 coilovers on 1 strut tower with a separator, damping 2 heights at the same time (on the second look i think i messed it up lol? gotta fix it soon ugh). if coils fail, there is a bypass shock absorber next to it, which has even more stages of control. unfortunately, no air bump stops on this one, unlike the trophy truck in the game, but what can i do. took me hours to find the balance. its rear heavy btw but i cant use any tyre ballasts for this (because obviously its a bad idea)

hey sapphic can you stop atleast talking about a cars suspension/brake disc/tires so much? maybe look into their other parts because half of the community doesent know how ackermann works, maybe simplify it into one post, it makes it easier for us than the whole info onto 1 post
thanks if you take my advice
oh and btw, take a look at something else since most chats are filled with your research
