How do I Fully Reset BeamMP?

Alright everyone, BeamNG and BeamMP can both have a number of issues that are both hard to diagnose and complicated to fix. Sometimes the best option is to just reset your BeamMP install, and, if that doesn’t work maybe you should also reset your userfolder.

Taking these two steps has a tendency to solve most issues that we see on the forums as you are literally scrubbing both BeamNG and BeamMP and resetting them to factory.

Here’s what to do

First we are going to totally reset BeamMP

-Go into single player
-Disable and delete the Multiplayer Mod from your listing
-Close BeamNG Drive
-Launch the BeamMP Launcher

The launcher will download the most recent clean version of the BeamMP Client and this will hopefully clear any issues that you may have. If that doesn’t work then we are also going to

Reset Your User Folder

-Press WIN+R
-Type %appdata%
-Go from “Roaming” at the top to “Local”
-Find BeamNG
-Find 0.33
-Rename 0.33 to 0.33_bak to preserve your custom configs
-Launch BeamNG Drive

This will force BeamNG to pull a new user folder, keep in mind that maps will be laggy the first time you join them as the game will need to recache everything, you will also need to move your custom car configurations from 0.33_bak to 0.33 manually.

Once you complete these steps you should have a functioning game, if not, please submit a Support ticket on the official Discord to get advanced assistance.

if your user shell folders in the registry are not corrupted, then it is not necessary to type appdata with %percent% symbols all the time

also, if you need a full uninstall, this is what you do:

  • in your user folder’s mods folder, delete multiplayer
  • then go back a few levels to your Roaming folder, find BeamMP, run the uninstall wizard (you should always do this before simply deleting ANY software’s location folder on ANY system, because there could be files located elsewhere), and, after its finished, delete the BeamMP folder completely with its remaining files (UNLESS you dont want to wait for mods to download for your favourite server, keep the Resources folder – it has all the mods you have been downloading)
  • your BeamNG’s user folder is not necessary to be misplaced. rename or delete it ONLY IF you are STILL having issues with your base game AFTER you ran the deep cache cleaning tool. however, this is also redundant. the game saves a backup copy of your settings and configs (excluding mods) inside your user folder’s backups folder every time you run the cache cleaning tool.

thix fixes authentication issues (since the key file is in that folder), this fixes BeamMP mod “not working” (since we deleted the multiplayer folder, it will be downloaded again next time you launch BeamMP), this fixes the endless loading for modded servers (since we deleted the Resources folder), and et cetera…
