Apparently and my SSD has some pretty alarming amounts of wear. It’s a 512 GB ssd. I’ve played beam ng drive multiplayer on it very very often. Im now down to 477 gigs left on my ssd. My main usage is beam mp. Can somebody please fix beam mp so its not sucking the dang life out of peoples SSD drives. Try to optimize things so it doesnt wear out the ssd as fast. Having mods constantly uninstall and install and forcing users to install mods or whatever and uninstalling them and installing and uninstalling. Instal uninstall instal uninstall. Even if you already HAVE the mods. Can we switch to something less strenuous on the hard drive because I jump around a lot and its wearing my system out when playing with friends etc. I estimate about one more year of this and the ssd is toast
My (C:) drive is a 475 GB, as beamng takes up alot of space i put it all on my 931 GB SSD.
I’d say buy and install another ssd that can hold more data. I’ve had mine for a few years and it’s still fine.
There is nothing to fix. 477GB is the usable capacity of a 512GB SSD, see here.
BeamMP does not install and uninstall mods each time, it will download them once when you join the server, then it checks if the mods match with what’s on the server when you join another time. If they match no download is done, if they don’t, the new mod is downloaded.
Yeah, my SSD is actually 1TB but windows is saying 931GB. That website is useful thanks!
I realized quickly after i made the post I was the dumb one. we all make mistakes. I feel dumb. just dont be like bobtings because he JUST made that account and is already harassing people.
Storage sense does NOT fix that. I learned that the hard way and thats kind of why this entire thread exists. Storage sense doesn’t delete the cached maps.
Im going to be a lot more mindful of maps I join. If its got 5 gigs of stuff im never gonna use. Nope.
West Coast USA is not great for beammp sadly
its good for dense rp and city stuff if a lot of people are there for an event but …..its stale. can beam ng drive devs switch it to somewhere on eastern washington or add an eatern washington map? maybe something like seattle? the reason I feel things are stale is EVERY DRIVING GAME EVER has a dense city and its all similar of the same theme. lots of criss crossing streets
Actually, when you join a server that has mods, it downloads them into your resources folder. When it says loading mods, it copies the mods from your resources folder into your multiplayer folder located in your mods folder. The writing and deleting of mods puts wear on a ssd. If a server says it has 10GB of mods, you better have 20GB of free space left.
If you installed beammp in the default location, right click on your beammp-launcher.exe shortcut and click open file location. In there is your Resources folder. Every server you joined that had mods, is downloaded into that folder. I had a person join the RP community I’m in and he was wondering where all his ssd/hdd space went. He had over 3,000 mods in his Resources.
How on earth can someone NOT notice they have 3,000 mods!? their game was probaby VERY VERY slow..
No? The Resources folder is not part of the base game. It doesn’t make your game run slower. It will only load mods that are on a specific server, leaving the other mods in not copied in your Resources folder. They didn’t have any mods in their base game mods folder.
No……. Right click on your beammp-launcher.exe shortcut and click open file location. In there is your Resources folder. Every server you joined that had mods, is downloaded into that folder. You’ll probably have a lot of mods if you join modded servers.
