I regret not advising so in my guide, but I highly recommend for any SteamOS users to use a desktop Linux distro to compile the binary as it’s much simpler that way, as appose to doing it on SteamOS that could result in unforseen events to those less savvy users.

If you don’t want to bother installing Linux on a PC then I believe all steps can still be carried out in the live environment that some distro’s provide such as Mint, Ubuntu, KDE Neon or Zorin to name a few.
