Hello im using my linux home server and made a Windows 10 VM to host a beamMP server for my brother. i did everything including port forwarding but when trying to connect it on my Gaming PC connected with Ethernet to the same router does not connect to the game server. Is there any this that i could of set up wrong for this to happen? The BeamMP-Server.exe is running and i configured it and it shows no errors as it running. when i connect on my Gaming pc it shows no error codes and does not connect. Any Ideas? Very new to this.
I was just able to get the server to get up on the list. But it does not connect, it shows 10061 error code but I made sure all the port forwarding is correct.
Hello, why are you not using the native linux server?
I couldn’t figure out how to install it, none of the files I installed would open in the terminal. And I’m still a beginner in Linux.
Any ideas? stuck Here.
Your ISP might not support you connecting to your own public IP, try direct connecting to the local ip of the server.
im using spectrum residential with a tp link router. and what do you mean by connecting to my local ip? i see my local ip from using a site and i put it in the port and it did not let me. it says (the IP address and LAN IP should be in the same subnet)
I can help you with linux, what is your distro?
Thanks I’m using regular Ubuntu.
Since you already setup the vm, we’ll check if the private ip will work, it might not tho since the vm software you are using is very probably not made for server stuff
go to settings → network → wired → small gear icon-> ipv4 address
I’m using virtual box
yeah, try to get the ip and try it with that, other wise you’ll have to use the native ubuntu executable
Ok I’ll try that out, I’ll tell you if there is anything different.
(please also comeback if nothing changes)
I just was able to check right now and the ipv4 address is the same as the one i used to port forward.
should i try putting in the default route? it was a 1 at the end instead of the last 3 digits.
use that ip in the direct connect tab
No, the direct connect in the game
