i double checked you and this seems to be, in fact, correct! i actually didnt know that they share the same simplified model, so i suppose this is as far as it can go, then… it was very interesting to learn something new today, i mean, something that i was too lazy to know!
Jeez_NL we need a way to report ppl on discord
Filing reports in the discord is handled through the moderation ticket system. You can submit a ticket by navigating to the ----PLAYER REPORTING---- category and selecting create-a-report. From this area we handle reports regarding in game issues and Discord issues.
Issues Noted.
Mod restrictions- it might be useful for some of your officials to have mod restrictions, not all but maybe a couple. you end up with an orange marker for a mod you dont have loaded. this is the most minimal of suggestions.
Tons of lag- I usually log into the derby track, run around it, actually tried to run a race against a couple other players and the desync was so bad the typical “blow horn 3 times to start” was impossible to implement. So no real race could be done.
Possible to code in a light bar that just runs on repeat every 60 seconds? draw a start line? then people can just use it at will or ignore it.
SUGGESTIONS
Should see about coding on server side some race possibility’s weather a more freeroam style or when you log into that server your in the race or qued for the next start.
I find it likely easy to implement restrictions on vehicle types, and car reset characteristics. I imagine it being like this.
you log in and a race is already going and itll be a few minutes until its complete. so your spawned in a little destruction derby area to pass the time. When the new race is to begin you can select your vehicle (or be force provided one) then its just a matter of the basic coding for a race. rinse repeat 24/7. if the server tracks the tines and players for a type of scoreboard all the better. You could I assume choose to limit tuning or not whatever works.
Without BeamMP I would already be done with BeamNG

- I’ve been unable to replicate this. I do know that if you’re not in a vehicle then all queues will be loaded instantly, but still not for deleted vehicles.

- well, kissMP has a global chat feature within its main ImGui chat box (just like beamMP’s, since its introduction to the “experimental chat menu”), which allows you to talk to everybody, to every server, and it has history, kind of like a built-in messenger, really (not bloatware - a feature, lul). beamMP, on the other hand, doesn’t have such luxury, and instead it has its community primarily on discord, including but not limited to anything of quicker, much more responsive technical support. every time i meet someone, they’re shocked to know that i’m NOT on the “beamMP discord”. just simple things like that. time and time again i have to just say “PM me on the forum”, but nobody’s gonna do that, people have yet to discover that such a forum is used for anything else but to log in to beamMP! but then again, i’ve already proposed an idea that you guys should ALSO implement a global chat.

and what the old chat shows? According to the log it’s not the linux launcher’s fault. Also yes I know that the debug logs are in the public build, that’s intentional. Assuming you haven’t stripped those out of the binary, they can be found in the launcher log and printed to the console if--verbose
or-v
is used. - I feel like having a single global chat in the client will be chaotic and a nightmare for the moderation team. Regarding support, that might change. Finally, discord is in my opinion a decent communication platform, it’s more appealing to people than the forum, I guess because it has less of a barrier to entry. It also has a large suite of first party and community tools to manage a big community. Discord is also where BeamMP started, before the forum you had to login with discord to play. That said, maybe some way more people can find out about the forum and use it, but we’ll see. For stuff not related to the community tho, like BeamPaint’s login, there might be a solution coming. (Sidenote: only people who have interacted with the forum a little bit can send messages to another, it’s disabled for new users)
- I mean yeah, some parts are simplified. For some simplified models there aren’t that many options available. Maybe we can add something that copies/saves the actual un-simplified config but I’m not sure if that’s worth the effort. I wouldn’t call this an issue, because this is what simplified vehicles are made for. It’s more a feature suggestion, being able to copy the actual config. Thinking about that tho, that might cause some confusion due to someone not ending up with what they cloned.

- oh, the old chat works great. EXCEPT i can’t send a message with ENTER, so i had to click on the “Send” button. and actually, it’s not that big of a deal, it’s just a simple setting in KDE in
System Settings > Application Permissions > Legacy X11 App Support > Always, Additionally include mouse buttons

- Looking at the code now it seems like there’s nothing explicitly saying to send the message when pressing enter but it works on windows. I’ll see if I can fix it.

We’ll be publishing binaries once we have an auto update system in for linux. And in relation to maintainers one can apply for BeamMP developer I suppose.

I just wanted to share some feedback on your amazing game. I really enjoy playing BeamNG – it’s super fun and very impressive already. I know the game is still in early access, but I think a few improvements could make it even more realistic and immersive.
1. Vehicle Part Breakage
One thing I noticed is that when you crash a car, certain parts like the door mirror or bumper fall off, but they come off as whole pieces. It would be a great improvement if these parts could also break into smaller pieces instead of staying completely intact. For example, if a mirror shattered or a bumper cracked into multiple chunks, it would make the crashes feel even more realistic and detailed.
2. Particle Effects (Dust, Mud, etc.)
Another point is about particle effects. When driving through mud, there aren’t really any visible mud splashes on the car. Adding this would really help the game feel more lifelike. Also, when driving on sand or gravel, the dust clouds and particles are really well done – they look great! But I did notice that the dust just goes through other cars instead of interacting with them. It would be awesome if the dust could bounce off or hit the cars realistically, like if you’re in a race and your friend’s car is behind yours, the dust would hit their windshield instead of phasing through it.
Thanks for reading my feedback – I hope some of these ideas can be considered for future updates. I understand the game is still in development, and it’s already amazing as it is. But with a few extra touches like these, I think BeamNG could become even more advanced and immersive.

Beammp is GREAT! Just one suggestion, maybe servers wgere we can use ANY mods whether its part of the server or just a ordinary beamMP server without any mods. Please and thank you!
WEATHER EVENTS. PLEASE. TORNADO MOD IS ONE THING BUT theres rain. Theres floods. Theres ice conditions. If its buffering or struggling to load maybe have a little slowly fading in and fading out “loading weather” in a really digital font for fun. Try that stuff on the official servers. Lets ENHANCE the main servers. Adding weather like dunamic wind sheer and a wind sock to some buildings etc and actually having forcasts or predicaments like high water levels and stuff would make the game SO MUCH MORE BEAUTIFUL in official servers (at that point you wouldnt ever see the servers NOT be full)
I forgot to mention lightning because I don’t think any mod has added lightning to the game yet or anything so if we had lightning strikes randomly through the map when it’s really cloudy and dark out and really rainy and miserable looking out… That would make the game so much more amazing to me having a giant purple lightning bolt hit the hood and cause the vehicle to shut down for like 10 seconds… That would be awesome
